Our holiday-home choices have been designed to offer an option for everyone and to suit all budgets. Location
We are situated on the North Coast of Kenya in Watamu, approximately 5 kms from Watamu Village on a large 5 acre, beachfront property, along Turtle Bay Road. We are based in the heart of the Watamu National Marine Park.
Getting there
Make your way to Magical Kenya! We recommend catching a flight from Nairobi to Malindi and then a taxi directly to us in Watamu. This is the fastest route. Alternatively, you can opt for the train or fly to Mombasa and arrange a taxi to Watamu.

Bamba Kofi Snackbar
Our Snackbar, set under a huge makuti roof, is a chilled, outdoor eatery available to all our guests. Enjoy the open kitchen & bar, and select from our updated menu that offers generous, tasty meals. We recommend pre-ordering ahead of time if possible. We don't classify ourselves as a 'restaurant', but an open kitchen with a wonderful team of staff to welcome you for a bite to eat when you really don’t feel like cooking. We encourage our guests to spend their time catching up on any work or to simply relax with a drink.

Salt Water Swimming Pool
Spend a few hours at our sparkling, salt water swimming pool where you can cool off after a day at the beach, and laze around on a sun bed with a good book! Our pool is surrounded by lush shady trees and gardens, keeping it cool and private.
Viewpoints
There are four separate viewpoints which we have been built on the edge of the cliff at our beachfront. Relax under the makuti for a spot of shade and take in the spectacular panoramic views of the ocean. Guests love to spend the day here, enjoying the ever changing scene.
Rooftop Lounge
Who doesn't enjoy a beautiful view? There's a special space exclusive to our guests, found up hight at the top of our Clubhouse building. A perfect chill spot away from it all, to enjoy 360° views; catch the awesome sunsets or just be still and bask in the balmy sea breeze! Enjoy the privacy and the peacefulness this beautiful space offers.
Sea Breeze Massage
Take the opportunity to indulge in a Relaxing Massage with a picturesque ocean view. At the front of our property, we offer a serene and private viewpoint where you can unwind and enjoy a soothing massage. Our goal is to provide you with a tranquil experience, complete with the calming sounds of the ocean and refreshing sea breeze. Choose from our range of massage options and leave feeling recharged and refreshed.

Enjoy some fun and laughter with a game of Pétanque at our beach sand communal area.
Check out our new Table Tennis area located adjacent to the Snackbar... a great way to have fun with the family.
For those wanting to explore around Watamu village and surrounds, we have a couple of E-bikes for hire.
For the more adventurous why not try scuba diving with TURTLE DIVE CENTER, offering lessons & equipment? We also have JC KITECHOOL where you can take up kite surfing lessons & enjoy the fun on the beach in front of our resort.
Gym
Make use of our small workout spot with some weights and few machines to help you stay active with your fitness routine whilst on holiday with us.
Camping
Get into nature and camp in one of our super comfy Tent Huts or Tents in our lush forest areas. Listen to the sounds of nature all around you with the distant crashing of waves onto the beach. We cater to Overlanders who need a camping space for their vehicles as well as those who would like to bring their own tents.

Transport Services
We can arrange a Taxi to transfer you to and from the airports - please organise this with us at the time. Tuk-Tuks and Boda-Bodas are readily available to get you around Watamu.
Your own Cook
A personal cook can be hired to prepare all your meals. Fresh fish, crabs & prawns are available daily from our local fishermen and all grocery items can be purchased from the local supermarkets and stores.
Kite Surfers Paradise
We are situated along one of the best beaches with perfect sea and wind conditions for Kite Surfing. Bring your own equipment or grab a lesson or two with JC Kiteschool @jc_kiteschool who operates from our property. It's a Kite Surfers paradise!
Safety & Security
We have two guards on duty patrolling day & night, with controlled access to the property. There is a 24hr response team from G4S with panic buttons for any unforeseen emergency. We have set up a fire safety station in the event of a fire.
Unlimited Wifi
If you need to do a spot of work whilst with us, WIFI with fast speed internet is freely available throughout our property for all our guests. In the unfortunate event of a power cut our Bamba Kofi Snackbar Clubhouse has a solar back up system to keep you connected. We do have generators to assist with power outages, which may occur, but are out of our control.
Excursions
There are so many fun & exciting outings or activities for everyone to enjoy. Excursions to explore the ocean and the surrounding areas can all be arranged with a recommended guide who you can chat to about your adventures. Turtle Dive Center @turtledivecenter is based on our property where you can learn to Scuba Dive.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt im Paradies. Die Anlage ist weitläufig und sehr schön, ob Pool, Strand, Tischtennis oder einfach nur auf der Hängematte den Tag genießen. Auch das Restaurant mit Frühstück und Essen war sehr lecker. Wir kommen bestimmt mal wieder.

Tolle Lage direkt am Garoda Beach, gutes Frühstück. Zimmer an sich groß aber das Badezimmer ist extrem klein. Man könnte auf einem Fleck duschen, auf Klo gehen und Zähne putzen. Beim Duschen wird halt alles kurz nass. Morgens wurden wir sehr früh (7 Uhr) vom lauten Geschirrwaschen in der Küche unterhalb des Zimmers geweckt.

Prachtige plek. Fijne, schone kamer met airco. Heerlijk zwembad, met lekkere ligbedden ernaast. Vriendelijk personeel wat heerlijk ontbijt maakt. We hebben niet gegeten in het restaurant, maar elke avond ons eigen eten gemaakt in de gezamenlijke keuken. Soms miste daar wat spullen zoals lepels, maar bij navraag bij het restaurant, kregen we elke keer alles wat we nodig hadden! Over het algemeen perfecte plek om heerlijk uit te rusten, te kitesurfen of de omgeving te verkennen!

This was my second time at Watamu Beach Cottages. Even better experience than first time. They did a lot of renovation work on the rooms and the garden. I also by mistake missed to change dates within the given dates on AirBnB, and Ian was very tolerant not to charge me extra. Highly appreciated.

Good value for money. Its at the other end of Watamu but close to the beach, staff are nice, rooms was cleaned well and I liked the outdoor vibe of a table tennis / community feel
Only downside is that the location was prone to some bugs, the staff did help with this with a bug spray, and there is also a good mosquito net.
Overall i would recommend it to stay

The room I had booked was being renovated so I was given one of the two-bedroom family cottages. It was comfortable and clean and a stone's throw away from the beach, so no complains!
There are many this to like about Watamu Cottages but the sense of community was my favourite. I made new friends and bumped into old ones, and more than anything - the team made me feel most welcome and comfortable. Lots of lovely hidden corners around the property to read a book or meditate or swing on a hammock or while away an afternoon.

This was my 3rd stay at the Beach Cottages, so hopefully that says a lot. The marketing is honest and accurate. The setting is beautiful, all of the staff are wonderful, and very helpful. They all care, and are willing to go that extra mile to help make your stay enjoyable. Benjamin's team even made a simple gate so that my dog could be off lead in the garden around the chalet.
I love it and will return.

We had a really lovely stay. The location right on Garoda Beach is perfect for a peaceful getaway in Watamu, while still being close to activities like diving and kite surfing as well as restaurants and cafes. The facilities, and especially the viewpoints, were excellent, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. While it was great value for money, especially with access to the surrounding facilities, the only downside was that our tent didn’t have a makuti roof and was positioned in a way that it got hit directly by the sun, making it very hot from around 8 a.m. onwards.

Top rapport qualité / prix! Magnifique complexe avec beaucoup d espaces communs (rooftop; restaurant, piscine, centre de plongée, école de kite, transats/hammac, massage) avec accès direct sur la plus belle plage de Watamu. La nourriture était excellente et le petit déjeuner inclus! La Clim fonctionnait correctement. Tout était super! Nous reviendrons!

Das gesamte Areal ist traumhaft schön. Es wurde an alles gedacht, was man für eine Auszeit braucht. Von den Cottages bis zum Pool, Meer usw. war alles toll. Das Personal an der Bar/ Restaurant war besonders freundlich!
Leider gab es von Seiten der Vermieter ein Missverständnisses bei der Buchung, welches allerdings freundlich und zügig gelöst wurde. Der Security-Mann war sehr unhöflich. Ab 22 Uhr gilt Nachtruhe. Wir saßen gemeinsam mit Nachbarn aus anderen Häusern von Ian am Pool und haben uns nett unterhalten. Um 22:03 Uhr kam der Security-Mann auf uns zugestampft und leuchtete mit seiner Taschenlampe in unsere Gesichter und machte uns sehr aggressiv auf die Uhrzeit aufmerksam. Ein freundlicher Ton hätte es auch getan.
Alles in allem aber sehr zu empfehlen!

I really loved staying in my little cottage. I had the 'Laser' cottage and it was fantastic. Tons of privacy and very comfortable, clean and well kept. Hot water, a ceiling and stand-alone fan, daily cleaning and turn-down, right on the beach. I could have stayed here for months. The only negative was that there was some construction going on right behind the cottage so I would recommend checking to ensure this has been completed as it did take away from the 'peaceful' environment it had the potential of being. But other than that it was perfect. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the kitchen staff work hard without any complaints. It was genuinely the perfect tranquil Kenyan coastal getaway. 5 stars.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Die Mitarbeiter waren alle super freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Es ist sicher. Die Anlage ist sehr schön gestaltet, mit vielen schönen Pflanzen bewachsen und wird sehr ordentlich gepflegt. Das Restaurant ist erschwinglich, Essen und Getränke schmecken gut und gerade dort sind die Mitarbeiter super freundlich. Wir haben in einem Zelt übernachtet, man kann aber auch ein Zimmer buchen, sich mit dem eigenen Van oder Zelt hinstellen. WC Anlagen sind sauber, der Pool schön und es ist einfach zum Strand zu gelangen. Super empfehlenswert!

Dieses Cottage war die schönste Unterkunft unseres 5 wöchigen Keniaurlaubes. Und in seiner Gesamtheit auch die schönste, die ich jemals auf meinen Reisen bewohnen durfte.
Die gesamte Anlage ist weitläufig und sehr geschmackvoll begrünt. Das ergibt ein angenehmes Klima, auch wenn es in Watamu meistens sehr heiß ist. Und es gibt viele gemütliche Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten. Das Personal ist super.
Insgesamt ist es noch schöner als auf den Bildern, weil der Flair einfach passt.
Leider haben wir aufgrund einer Doppelbuchung eine andere Unterkunft erhalten und diese war direkt neben den Parkplätzen. Einige Tuktuk Fahrer lassen gerne auch mal länger als nötig den Motor laufen - und so kam es zu gelegentlicher Geruchs- und Lärmbelästigung.
Insgesamt ist das jedoch zu vernachlässigen und wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wieder dort einchecken.
Auch die ansässige Tauchschule ist sehr zu empfehlen - kompetent und freundlich und die Unterwasserwelt fantastisch.

Watamu Beach Cottages is my favorite place to stay in Watamu. Right on the beach. Accomodations of every type/budget. Super friendly staff. The new bar/restaurant is great to have and overall ticks all the boxes for a pleasant stay in Watamu. I recommend this place to anyone who's ever looking for options to stay in Watamu. 10/10

Preis-Leistungsverhältnis top. Zelt war wie in der Beschreibung recht einfach, aber für den Preis sehr fair. Mit richtigem, gemütlichen Bett und Strom. Vorzelt mit Sonnenschutz war auch gut. Ansonsten hatte man vor Ort, alles was man braucht, und weit aus mehr, was einem den Aufenthalt versüßt. Jeder kann die gemeinschaftlichen Einrichtungen wie Pool, Massage, Fitnessbereich, Tischtennis usw. nutzen. Es gibt auch eine Kite- und eine Tauchbasis auf dem Gelände. Man kann in den Gemeinschaftsküchen selbst kochen oder in dem familiären Restaurant essen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Mein Lieblingsplatz war auf einem Hängebett oder einem Liegestuhl mit einem atemberaubenden Blick auf den Strand, das Meer und die Kiter. Alles war wie beschrieben und auf den Fotos - selbst die Farben. Es ist wirklich so wunderschön.

Fantastic! We stayed in the safari tents and they were perfect. Right by the ocean and best place to swim in Watamu and in the forest with great shaded nooks to relax and explore. Highly recommend.

Watamu BC is an adventuras place to stay. We slept in the baobab tent. The night is full of nature sounds, that's great, and the monkeys are always around. Beach you can walk in 5 minutes .
The food at the restaurant was oke.
A small complaint about the towels: too old. And thank you Benjamin for your friendly assistance, we like your smile.
After checking out we could still hang around.

Absolutely fabulous! The large compound is dotted with various habitations, ranging from larger villas to trnts. The landscaping is gorgeoys, the grounds and pool are immaculate and the staff fantastic. The food is good and reasonably priced, although it takes a little longer to arrive than you might be used to. The beach is divine and was pristine..no seaweed at all. I highly recommend to individuals, families, and remote workers. Returning next year!

How far are the local shops?
Watamu Village is 5kms down Turtle Bay Road where you will find all shops, pharmacies, banks, and local stalls. Blue Marmelade, now based at Blue Moon Mall is a well-stocked supermarket which we recommend as a one-stop shop for all your grocery needs. Should you prefer more local prices, you can opt to buy fresh produce at the stalls on the side of the road.Â
What is Self-Catering?
Self-Catering requires you to supply all the supplies which you will consume or use during your stay. This would include your toiletries, your food and drink and all sanitary supplies, etc.Â
Self-catering accommodation is described as self-contained holiday accommodation which has facilities for the guests to prepare their own meals.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, we welcome guests with pets but please be aware to keep your pet on a leash and supervised at all times. The safety of your animal is solely the owners responsibility.
What happens in an emergency?
We have a complete First Aid Kit available to guests if required. A Doctor is on call for any medical emergencies. There is a 24-hour response team with G4S panic buttons located in most units. The response team will assist with ambulances, police, or the fire brigade.Â
We have 2 guards on duty at all times, manning the front entrance gate and patrolling the beachfront of our property.  We also have a fire safety station set up in case of a fire. The safety of our guests is important to us!Â
